Fandom Round-Up

sherydenOkay, I haven't done a fandom round-up in a while, so I thought I'd do one. I'm only doing my five top fandoms, even though I have a bunch of other ones, too. The ones I've done are Stargate: Atlantis, Sanctuary, Torchwood, Doctor Who, and Stargate: SG0-1. I've tried to leave out the spoilers, because I know there are people on my flist who are catching up. I might do Heroes, LOST, and some others when I get back from dinner at the relatives' house.
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Why I Like the Fandom: Well, the combined hotness of Joe Flanigan, Kavan Smith, and Jason Momoa helps, lol. Seriously, though, I originally tuned in because I'm an SG-1 fan, and I figured I'd try it out. I love the chemistry between the characters, the whole frontier exploration aspect, and the new aliens they've encountered. The Wraith? The Genii? So cool! Oh, and there's the fantastic snark of Rodney McKay. Where would the fandom be without that?
Favorite Characters: Oh, I love almost all the characters on this show. Lorne and Sheppard are probably the ones I squee loudest over, but this is a SOLID cast.
Least Favorite Characters: KELLER!!! She drives me insane!
Favorite Ships: McShep, Lorne/pretty much anyone.
Least Favorite Ships: I'm not too jazzed about the whole McKay/Keller thing. I don't really care that much, but it seems really rushed and random.
I Want to See More: More episodes? :( If not that, then more movies. And of course, more Lorne. I'd also like to see (being vague in case people haven't gotten that far) more of the aliens from "The Lost Tribe."
Fandom: Sanctuary
Why I Like the Fandom: First of all, I love the world they've created. Old City is a great backdrop for the exotic things they encounter. Also, I love the way they've woven their plot into history. As an historian myself, I get ridiculously excited by the way they use historical "characters" such as Druitt and Tesla. And I love the flashbacks to Victorian England.
Favorite Characters: Again, this is a terrific cast, and I like everyone. But my favorites are Henry, Joe, and Helen.
Least Favorite Characters: The only character I don't connect with is Ashley. I don't dislike her, but I don't relate to her.
Favorite Ships: The only pairings I definitely ship are John/Helen, Joe/Will, and Helen/Tesla.
Least Favorite Ships: Helen/Will. I like their rapport, but not in a romantic sense.
I Want to See More: More Joe Kavanaugh! :D Also, more backstory for Henry, John, and Helen. And more of the city itself. I don't mind the exotic locales once in a while, but the city, to me, is as much a character as Helen or Bigfoot. Also, I want a name for Bigfoot. Unless he has one, and I've missed it?
Fandom: Torchwood
Why I Like the Fandom: It's edgy, and it takes risks. You can watch this show and see things that other shows don't have the balls to do. Plus, it has a great cast who have amazing chemistry with each other. Also, Cardiff is an amazing setting for the show and separates it from DW.
Favorite Characters: Jack and Ianto.
Least Favorite Characters: Well... sometimes Gwen annoys me.
Favorite Ships: Jack/Ianto, Owen/Tosh, Rhys/Gwen
Least Favorite Ships: Jack/Gwen
I Want to See More: Ianto backstory! Seriously, we know so little about him. Also, I'd like to see them take more risks with the Jack/Ianto relationship and completely drop the Jack/Gwen thing.
Fandom: Doctor Who
Why I Like the Fandom: It's fun! Come on, they ride through space and time in a police box! How cool is that? Plus, without spoiling anything fordexterette, who I know hasn't seen the whole series yet, their were a couple of over-the-top but wonderful things from the last season finale that just made me cheer out loud. This show can make me do that, as jaded as I am.
Favorite Characters: The Doctor, obviously. And Jack! And Wilf, who simply must visit again.
Least Favorite Characters: *looks around and coughs* Uh, Rose, actually.
Favorite Ships: I don't ship much for this show, to be honest. If anything, I ship Nine/Jack and Ten/Master
Least Favorite Ships: Ten/Rose. Sorry, peeps. Rose just gets on my nerves with her, "I'm special" blather.
I Want to See More: Let's see... I want to see more early Torchwood references, like we got in "Tooth and Claw." Also, I want to see another multi-Doctor episode, because those are FUN!
Fandom: Stargate: SG-1
Why I Like the Fandom: The combination of mythology, science, and the military was what first drew me to the show. But I also love the chemistry between Jack and Daniel. To me, they're the core of the show, and they drew me in. Also, I love RDA and thought Michael Shanks was pretty when I saw him the first time. :)
Favorite Characters: Daniel, Jack, and Cam
Least Favorite Characters: No one, really. It's a great cast.
Favorite Ships: Jack/Daniel and Sam/Daniel
Least Favorite Ships: Jack/Sam
I Want to See More: More movies! If Star Trek can make movie after movie, so can Stargate! And let's face it. The Stargate movies are three for three. They've all be amazing!
