God willing, by this time next year, I'll be on the cusp of starting my PhD program in History. That reality has just hit me. My major problem is what do I focus my time on? Do I do something with the US during the Cold War? Cultural history? Something with LGBT history? And if that, what century? Do I study Russia and Eastern Europe? Diplomatic history? India? Latin America? Some combination of the above? These are all subjects and areas I love, but I just don't know. I need to do some serious boning up on my languages between now and next year, though, because I'll need to take exams not long after entering my program.
Also, I think I'd eventually like to tackle Czech and Greek--not because I necessarily have to have them, but because I want to learn them. Any arguments for or against this plan?
I'd also like to take some additional classes in Anthropology--that was my original major.
