Crankiness and an icon pairing meme

sherydenI am so bored and restless. I did some writing today, which is good, because I have a Mal/Simon story due for a fic-a-thon story next week. Also, I'm trying to finish a couple of other things, and people are starting to prod me for the finished product.
I'm finding it a challenging to actually carve out time to write. My classes take so much prep time that I barely have time to enjoy the material I'm teaching, let alone do anything else. As much as I love to teach, part of me would love to have a job that I didn't have to bring home.
And the meme:
Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc. Then write your reaction to each pairing (or a snippet of a hypothetical fic featuring each pairing).
Of course, I left all house pets and giant black and white apes out.
Carson Beckett (Stargate: Atlantis)/Samantha Carter (Stargate: SG-1): I'd feel bad for poor Carson if he hooked up with Sam. As much as I love Sam, her lovers just don't fare well in the long term.
Ronon Dex (Stargate: Atlantis)/Teyla Emmagen (Stargate: Atlantis): In real, on-the-show terms, this one could work. The one pitfall would be that they are on the same team, and that probably wouldn't fly. But in terms of chemistry and connection, they have it and would be a strong couple.
Jack Harkness (Torchwood)/Owen Harper (Torchwood): Oh, you know Owen's fantasized about Jack. Most definitely. And Jack would need little encouragement to have a roll in the hay with Owen. Would they form a long-term couple? Nope. But they'd enjoy their night.
Daniel Jackson (Stargate: SG-1)/Ianto Jones (Torchwood): Oh, this could work! First of all, they're both adorable. But Daniel would treat Ianto with the utmost respect and would be able to have an intelligent conversation with him. Also, Ianto would be able to seduce him with a good cup of coffee!
Remy LeBeau (Marvel Comics)/Evan Lorne (Stargate: Atlantis): Gambit and Major Lorne. *considers this* I could see it as a physical thing, but I don't see them as being compatible emotionally.
Jamie Madrox (Marvel Comics)/Rodney McKay (Stargate: Atlantis): For those of you who don't know, Jamie Madrox is a character in Marvel Comics called Multiple Man. His power is to make sentient duplicates of himself who are capable of independent thought and action. Poor Rodney wouldn't know what to do with a man who could...do several things to him at once.
Jeannie Miller (Stargate: Atlantis)/Cam Mitchell (Stargate: SG-1): Jeannie's married and all, but if she wasn't this couple could actually work, and Cam would a fine stepdad to Jeannie's little girl. Rodney would go ballistic, though!
Jack O'Neill (Stargate: SG-1)/Greg Sanders (CSI): I can't seem to think of Jack with anyone but Daniel or his ex-wife, so.... I could see Greg becoming enamored by Jack's whole covert ops past, though.
John Sheppard (Stargate: Atlantis)/Nick Stokes (CSI): If they met in a bar, they'd hit it off. I don't know... I don't really think they offset each other's personalities, though. They probably wouldn't be interesting to write as a pairing.
Simon Tam (Firefly)/Teal'c (Stargate: SG-1)/Ten (Doctor Who): I'm not even sure what to say... I can't think of three people more different or incompatible with each other.
