I've added a bunch of new friends to my flist, so HI! Normally, I would do a Getting to Know You poll or something, but I'm more in the mood to ramble, so I guess I'll do a proper intro post. Anything else you want to know? Feel free to ask!

Let's see...

I teach History at a university here in Ohio. I'd prefer not to say which one, in case one of my students happen to stumble across my LJ. I majored in both English and History as an undergrad, but I did my Master's work in History. God-willing, I'll go back to get my PhD next year.

I'm also a freelance writer, mostly of fiction. You may see me whining about deadlines or stalled plots from time to time, but I generally tend to not talk about my "civilian" writing career. My fanfic, though. That I babble on about all the time.

I have a few pet peeves, most of them driving-related. Also, I get turned off by cheaters, know-it-alls, people who refuse to use lj-cut for spoilers, sycophants, homophobes, fandom wank, and rich text format.

In music, I like a bit of all sorts of stuff. A few of my major interests right now are Christian Kane, Steve Carlson, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Miranda Lambert, Johnny Cash, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Flogging Molly, The Waterboys and The Pogues.
