I'll admit that I'd have preferred an older actor for the role. I don't have a problem with young actors, but I do have a big problem with the way writers tend to portray them. I worry that we'll have too many cutesy "is that peach fuzz, Doctor" jokes every time he runs into someone who knew him as Ten. Also, if the companion is a spunky young girl, I might scream.
And dammit, how will I slash him with Jack, now? The actor may be 26, but he looks much younger.

On the other hand, others have pointed out that Moffat might portray him as an old soul, and if he does that, it could work. I guess they just need to remember how old The Doctor and not let the actor's age dictate the way he's characterized.
We do need the right companion, though. I kind of hope they go with two companions this time. I miss the old days when we had a full TARDIS.
On the upside, I'm really glad this is someone I don't know. It makes the whole thing new and shiny. Also, in the interview below, the actor is quite likable.
So it'll all come down to the way the character is written and what sort of companion(s) they give him. I'll be watching either way. :D
