Doctor Who--The Stolen Earth (spoilers)
This episode had a fantastically epic feel to it, and that was the kind of episode I wanted!
* I loved that Donna was a source of strength for the Doctor, despite her own angst over her planet and family. Also, I loved that she got the significance of Rose's return to the Doctor's personal life. She's such a romantic at heart, isn't she?
* The disappearance of Earth and the connection with missing planets mentioned earlier in the series was quite well done. I loved the wave of shock and panic and drive to act from each of the primaries.
* Ianto and his talk show giggles. *loves* I've read on some other reviews that some felt it was OOC. Yikes, I loathe it when people dismiss every new character quirk as OOC. We're still learning about him, people. Now we've learned something new.
* Having Gwen call Rhys was a nice touch. I figured they'd conveniently forget about her love for him during the episode. "I love you, you big idiot." :D And her thinking of her mother was also a lovely detail.
* Also a nice touch that the absence of Luke's friends is explained.
* Now, you see. Rose as a badass. That I like. It'll be interesting to see the state of the reality she's been living in, because she's so much harder than she was.
* I love Wilf. and his concern for Donna.
* Martha and Jack--they're kind of BFF, aren't they?
* Jealous!Ianto! Squee! "When was that?" "Strictly professional." *gush*
* Yeah, I saw the EEK! DALEKS! scene a week ago, but in context, it really works. Jack's and Sarah Jane's reactions really sold it. I mean, an immortal guy who fight aliens for a living and a seasoned companion are flipping their gourds over this. Thumbs up.
* I like that Martha started out in America. Having part of the action in New York makes the whole thing seem a little more widespread than just having someone look at a screen and say, "the Daleks are landing everywhere."
* The swarm of Daleks was creepy! "Daleks are the masters of Earth!" Yikes!
* I love that in a crisis, Ianto still puts his hand on his hip. *gush*
* Jack/Ianto touching!
* Yes, Jack and Martha are BFF.
* Dalek Caan is creepy and irritating at the same time.
* Way to cheer Donna up, Shadow Proclamation Chick.
* Wilf, his bat, and his paint gun win. "My vision is not impaired." D:
* Yay for Rose saving Wilf and Sylvia!!! And Wilf: "You wanna swap?" :D
* Hopeless!Doctor. My, he's being emo today.
* I loved how Ianto just kind of dropped resignedly into a chair when he heard the surrender being broadcast. And Jack huddled against the wall.
* Harriet Jones! This was really well done. "Captain Jack Harkness, shame on you. Now, stand to attention, sir." *LOVES* They all needed a good shake to get them to snap out of their "woe is me" moods.
* Okay, Rose, I was loving you until you started with the "Who's she? I was there first." Yikes, she sounded whiny. Yes, you were there first. Grow up. D:
* Aw, Martha's home with her mother. :)
* Yay for Flirty!Jack. Sarah Jane was so cute when he said, "Looking good, ma'am!" D'aww!
* Luke was adorable during that scene, as well. He looked so proud of his mother.
* Luke and his nerdiness has impressed Jack!
* Yay for Expository!Ianto, pointing out the dangers of The Plan! He's such a doll! :D
* For once, Gwen had nothing to say. :P
* Jack's salute after he found out The Plan would require Harriet's death. Nice.
* "Marvelous woman. I voted for her." "You did not!"
* This scene was COOL! Never underestimate the power of a good cell phone!
* I love that Harriet went down a hero. It was a fitting end to her character.
* "Harriet Jones. Former Prime Minister." "Yes, we know who you are." LOL
* I loved everyone's reaction to seeing the Doctor. Gwen thinks he's hot. Ianto is jealous. D'aww. "He's not that young."
* Donna likes Jack. SQUEE! She should so hit on him later.
* The Doctor asked about Luke, Ianto, and Gwen. Yay! I'm hoping they gets to meet him before the end of next episode.
* "An outer space Facebook." Donna, you win.
* Davros! Yes, they let Sarah Jane react!
* "Everlasting death for the most faithful companion." *shiver*
* No, don't exterminate Torchwood!!!
* Jack has a working teleporter. Look out universe!
* Okay, Jack. I get that you have to run off and find the Doctor. But would it have killed you to TAKE YOUR TEAM ALONG????? No, instead you let them fend for themselves against the Daleks. Two people. No weapons. Close quarters. You fail!
* Gwen and Ianto are cute together, though. They should be BFF. Jack has Martha, so Gwen and Ianto should have each other.
* Sarah Jane!!! Remember how I said Jack failed? You fail worse! She leaves to find the Doctor and tells her child son to stay in the house? What's he going to do if the Daleks knock on the door? Tell them his mom doesn't let him have strangers in?
* Well, when the Doctor and Rose started running toward each other, we all knew someone was going down.
* Okay, Rose. You've been through a regeneration, and it worked out just fine. You know he's not going anywhere. I would have expected her to say, "He'll regenerate, won't he Jack?" I could see her freaking out until she sees that he's about to regenerate. But instead, she's all "But you can't!" What? Is she afraid he won't be cute next time?
* We can understand Donna freaking out. She doesn't quite know what's happening.
* Jack's reaction to the regeneration was fantastic. He knows what's happening, he knows the Doctor will be all right, and he wishes him luck. Nice.
* Owen/Tosh reference!!
* Dalek Roadblock! Poor Sarah Jane!
* Nice scene in the Hub. Ianto and Gwen against certain extermination. Woo! They look so adorably bad ass with those guns.
* I know everyone is NOOOOO!!!! right now, but I'm pretty sure David Tennant is going nowhere. It'll be a botched regeneration or something. The hand will probably figure in somehow.
* So for next time, I'm pretty sure Luke will hook up with Ianto and Gwen and/or Wilf and Sylvia.
Also, I have a "Stolen Earth" poll! Have at it!!!!
