Just an update while I wait for the delivery man to bring my oven...

I've heard from quite a few people--Paul, Michelle, Rondi, Emily, etc. I'm looking forward to spending time with everyone. I've been terrible at keeping up with e-mail (and my flist, too).

Now that I have time, I need to read a few chapters of the book Karl is working on. He sent me the chapters a while back, but I just haven't gotten to them. Also, I think Michelle is going to send me the final draft of her paper for me to read over.

What else? I called my aunt and uncle yesterday and my mom today. I want to call my other aunt, but she's busy taking care of my grandma, and I don't know when is the best time to call her.

I made the mistake of interrupting my mom as she was making dinner. I figured I was safe calling her at 1 in the afteroon, but apparently not. Anyway, the call was short, because Mom does not like to be bothered when he's in the kitchen. : /

Oh, and I found out another uncle had heart surgery. (!) I guess he's okay, but this is the first I've heard of it.

EDIT: The new oven is here! Yeah!

One of the wonderful things about having friends is that you never know where life is going to take all of you. You find yourself scattered to the wind and deposited all over the globe.

I just discovered that my friend Jonathan has moved to NYC and is living in the Bronx! :D I guess he's teaching in the dreaded NYC public school system. God bless him, because I don't think I could do it.

Let's hope he doesn't wind up the subject of an episode of CSI: NY.

EDIT: My life is a comedy of errors. We're having a horribly hot summer, and I just found out that my AC is busted, and the serviceman had to order a new motor. So that's a new oven and a new AC in two days. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

I'm very amused right now. Who Wants to be a Superhero? was just on, and it was hilarious--of course, it's funnier if you read comics. They play with a lot of the little conventions and themes in superhero comic books and inflate them. In any case, it's reality TV on crack, and I love it.

* This week, the contestants had to get past attack dogs. I love dogs, but yeah. That would scare the heck out of me.

* The fan favorite so far seems to be Major Victory, an over-dramatic ex-male stripper. I can't adequately describe him, but he lampoons all the superhero stereotypes, and it's fun to watch. He hardly ever breaks character.

* One of the eliminated contestants is being brought back as a "super-villain" next week. :D

Power: force beams from your eyes

Well, he's bagging Emma Frost, so I can handle that. :p
