Random Thoughts About the Golden Globes
Jan. 16th, 2006 10:52 pmOkay, I caved and watched it. I still think Jake Gyllenhaal was robbed, but I was pretty happy about a lot of the winners.
First of all, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon for Best Actor and Actress respectively. I really wanted these two to win, but I figured they'd get shafted. Well, happily, I was wrong. Additionally, Walk the Line won for Best Comedy/Musical. So woot!
Much love for Philip Seymour Hoffman, the idea that Johnny Depp plays Barbies with his daughter, and that Larry McMurtry thanked his typerwriter in his acceptance speech. :D
Finally, Brokeback Mountain. It won for Best Picture and Best Screenplay, and Ang Lee won for Best Director. Squee!!! It's a shame that Heath Ledger didn't win, but losing to Hoffman isn't really losing. The guy is incredible.
Is it me, or did everyone make a concerted effort not to say the word "gay" during tonight's show?
